01. Digital Techniques
October 2023
The primary focus of this work was on contemporary design approaches and techniques that enable a deeper understanding of architectural design processes. The curriculum exposed me to a variety of exercises centred around diagramming, computing, and prototyping of design precedents.
The essence of the course lay in applying an iterative design thinking approach, emphasising abstraction, formulation, evaluation, and transformation of ideas. Through these exercises, I honed my ability to navigate architectural design processes and workflows, developing a skill set crucial for effective communication of design ideas. Architectural drawings, as well as various visual media and techniques, became integral tools in expressing and conveying the essence of my designs.
A significant aspect of the subject was the exploration of parametric modelling and fabrication strategies, with a focus on their impact on the overall design process. Understanding how these elements influence design allowed me to approach projects with a heightened sense of awareness and intentionality.
I explored both analogue and digital techniques including Rhino, Grasshopper, Ladybug, 3D printing, laser cutting, Enscape and Lumion.
